Al Bayt Stadium
An architectural masterpiece designed in the shape of a giant Bayt Al Shaar, the Bedouin tents that are part of Qatar’s desert heritage. Located in Al Khor, Al Bayt Stadium feels like a self-contained football park on the edge of the city, with wide plazas and family areas around the ground. The stadium is connected to Doha by a dedicated shuttle-bus service from the Red Line’s Lusail QNB Metro Station.

The iconic and unique stadium is built from a modular steel frame and 974 colourful shipping containers which are a reference to both Qatar’s international dialling code and its maritime trade history. Qatar’s classic football landmark, originally opened in 1976 and extensively modernised for recent global events. Located inside Qatar Foundation’s university district, and surrounded by campuses, libraries and research centers. Nicknamed “the Diamond in the Desert” for its faceted façade, it hosted one of the most famous moments in 2022 FIFA World Cup when Morocco defeated Spain in a penalty shoot-out. Easily reached on foot from Education City Metro Station on the Green Line.
