Cheick Diabaté scored a hattrick as Al-Gharafa eased to a 5-0 victory over Al-Khor.
Gabriel Pires opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a powerful long-range effort that somehow found its way past goalkeeper Baba Djibril.
The Al-Khor defence struggled to cope with the powerful Diabaté who received the ball outside the box before shrugging the challenge of Rafael Faz and scoring the second goal in the 36th minute.
In the 44th minute, Moayed Hassan benefited from the extra attention given by Al-Khor defence to Diabaté to add the third goal with an easy finish after a perfect pass from Sofiane Hanni.
Less than a minute later, the Mali international added his second after once again easily dribbling past Tameem Al-Muhaza.
Al-Khor manager, Winfried Schafer, made four changes at halftime, taking off his veteran goalkeeper, and the two front men. But the game was already beyond his team as Diabaté completed his hattrick in the 75th minute, after an excellent through ball from substitute Ahmed Alaa.
The result gave Al-Gharafa their 4th win this season to remain fifth in the standings, while Al-Khor are still winless and only goal difference separates them from the relegation zone.
