The 2024-25 QSL Cup kicked off with wins for Al-Duhail, Al-Arabi and Al Rayyan in Group A.
At Thani bin Jassim Stadium, Al Duhail took the lead after 20 minutes when Ibrahima Diallo expertly tapped in a precise cross from Abdulla Al Sawaf. However, Qatar SC responded just before halftime, with Sebastian Soria rising to head home a well-timed equalizer for the Black and Yellow.
In the second half, Diallo turned provider, delivering a perfectly weighted long ball that found substitute Mubarak Shanan. Shanan capitalized on a misjudgment by goalkeeper Satea Al Abbassi, who came off his line too early, allowing Shanan to slot the ball into the net and secure the victory for Al Duhail.
In the other two matches, Rodrigo Tabata’s first-half penalty secured a 1-0 for Al Rayyan over Al Shahania at Grand Hamad Stadium, while Luiz Martin’s freekick gave Al Arabi a 1-0 win in the Doha derby against their neighbours Al Ahli at Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium.
