Qatar defeated Honduras 2-0 to reach the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in their first-ever appearance in the competition.
The Asian champions dominated the match from start to finish.
Homam Al-Amin opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a powerful shot from a tight angle.
Honduras rarely troubled Qatar goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham but they came close to an equalizer in the final minutes of the game only for Abdulaziz Hatem to score the second goal in injury time to secure victory for the Asian champions.
The win gave Qatar the top spot in Group D and they will now face El Salvador in the quarter-finals on July 24th.
