Mario Mandzukic scored his first goal for Al Duhail as his side defeated Al Sailiya in the Qatar Cup semi-final on Friday.
It was a routine win for the QSL leaders, but they had to work hard for it, and they waited till the 58th minute to take the lead through their new Croatian striker who made no mistake as he followed Luiz Martin’s long range effort that was blocked by goalkeeper Khalifa Ababacar.
In the 72nd minute, Al Moez Ali made it 2-0 from the spot after he was brought down in the box by Kara Mbodji.
Mandzukic joined Al Duhail from Juventus at the start of this winter transfer window, alongside North Korea international Han Kwang-Song, who made his debut today coming on as a substitute to Edmilson in the final ten minutes.
Al Duhail will now face either Al Sadd or Al Rayyan who face off on Saturday in the other semi-final.
