2027 Asian Cup Draw: Qatar to face Thailand, Indonesia and Japan

The official draw for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup took place in the historic city of Diriyah on May 9.

Defending champions Qatar, who will be aiming for their third straight title, were drawn in Group F alongside Thailand, Indonesia and Japan.

During the ceremony, held against the backdrop of the iconic Salwa Palace, the organizers unveiled the tournament’s official slogan, “Ahlan Asia” (Welcome, Asia).

The 19th edition of the continental showpiece is set to take place from January 5 to February 5, 2027, and it will be the first to be hosted by Saudi Arabia.

Al Annabi will open their campaign against Thailand on January 11 in Riyadh, before facing Indonesia on January 16 in Khobar, and then before returning to Riyadh for a high-profile showdown with four-time winners Japan.

The tournament will feature 24 teams split into six groups, with matches played across Riyadh, Jeddah and Khobar.

Group A: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Palestine
Group B: Uzbekistan, Bahrain, North Korea, Jordan
Group C: Iran, Syria, Kyrgyzstan, China
Group D: Australia, Tajikistan, Iraq, Singapore
Group E: South Korea, UAE, Vietnam, Yemen/Lebanon
Group F: Japan, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia
