CAF Champions League winners Pyramids will be aiming to make history when they face Libertadores Cup champions Flamengo in Doha on Saturday at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in the FIFA Challenger Cup.
Pyramids arrive in Qatar on the back of an impressive first appearance in a FIFA competition. The Egyptian side made their global debut earlier this year with a 3–1 victory over Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli in Jeddah, lifting the African–Asian–Pacific Cup and securing their spot in today’s Challenger Cup tie. A win in today’s match will make them the first Egyptian club to reach a FIFA Competition final.
The club, founded in 2018, already made history by becoming only the second Egyptian club to participate in FIFA competitions, after years of domination from one club, Al Ahly.
Meanwhile, Flamengo booked their place in the match with a 2–1 win over Mexico’s Cruz Azul on Wednesday. The Brazilian giants will be looking to add another international chapter to their rich history.
